Recommended Books and Websites

I'm not much of a reader and I would say much of it is that I often struggle sitting still long enough to get through one, but I have found that books I really enjoy are more or less knowledge based.  Many of these styles are easy to stop, skip over and skim through so they are right up my alley!

These books have really helped me in my process to finding balance in my life:

Financial Peace Revisited
Financial Peace Revisited - Dave Ramsey
This book helped not only get us out of debt but has helped us stay there!  I highly recommend this one.  This book is really good if you just need direction and not too many motivational stories.  His newer book Total Money Makeover is pretty much the same with additional motivating stories from those who have found freedom from debt.

The Total Money Makeover
The Total Money Makeover - Dave Ramsey
When you are motivated to do something, you just can't get enough information; which is why I also read this book of Dave Ramsey's as well.  I am much more logic based so the Financial Peace Revisited above was a little more my style.  For those who need a lot of energy and excitement and enjoy hearing motivational stories to help keep them going then this book The Total Money Makeover would be better for you.

Family Manager's Guide for Working Moms

The Family Manager's Guide for Working Moms - Kathy Peel
This is another book that has helped change my life and my thinking.  It was interesting to read that she was very much like me and grew to be more organized and on top of things and less scattered as she grows older.  One of my favorite things I learned from this book is 5 minute chores.  If you have only 5 minutes, you have time to clean a sink or clean mirrors.  Many chores are only 5 minutes so you can easily keep up with household chores 5 minutes at a time.   This book is great, not just for working moms outside of the home...if you are a mom and stay at home with your kids, YOU ARE a working mom!
